URGENT MESSAGE FOR ALL RFU MEMBERS – Part-time workers settlement

March 16, 2012

National News

Some of you will be aware that the part-time workers settlement letters were dispatched this week (05 March) by Popularis for  FBU  members only. However, it has come to our attention that some serving RFU members (including those who have never been members of the FBU)  have received these aforementioned letters at their home address.

This matter is extremely disconcerting and we will endeavour to investigate the matter ourselves and provide members with feedback in due course.  We can, of course, assure you that the RFU has not shared your personal data with the  FBU.  Indeed, we have only shared information with Popularis in accordance with the process for implementing the settlement which the RFU has secured for its members, as detailed in Briefing Note 03/11 (circular within which the settlement agreement was explained) after Popularis had acknowledged its obligations in relation to the processing of our member's personal data under the Data Protection Act 1998.

We advise ALL RFU members not to respond to the letter from the FBU, and await further instruction from us as a RFU will be forthcoming in due course.

As your union we are acting in your best interests on this matter and are grateful for your patience at this time.

If however, you have any urgent query regarding this issue please contact RFU HQ.
